Here, fun stuff.

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 3 sentences on your blog along with these instructions.
5. Don't you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest.

Here you go:
Submit complete ms by mail in November. Responds in 8-12 months. Accepts simultaneous submissions.

One might be tempted to question whether those are actually SENTENCES....

What would actually be more fun is if everyone posted their answers right here in the comments, so everyone can see the variety. Then they can post in their own journals too. Come on! It will be fun!

Since the closest "book" was the phone book, I grabbed the second nearest book.

"Okay? Now that the numb-fuck apprentices have the guns and the master's unarmed, can we please go? If something big comes out of the bush at us, Roland, you can always throw your knife at it."

Are we supposed to say what book it's from??? Or even better, try to string them together in a semblance of a story?? That'd be cool.

Yeah, seriously-- include Liz's sentence (below) right in your paragraph of dialogue here! "This ensemble WILL have discipline!" That's a fun writing prompt actually. We'll have to see where this takes us.

I'D enjoy hearing what books they're from, 'specially if something peaks somebody's interest; but the complete randomness of no titles is a good effect, too.

Well, mine was from Stephen King's "The Wastelands" which is the middle of a series. A pretty well written series, in my opinion. Entertaining, too, although it does have dry spots. The worst part of it - the very first book.

I thought it was from the Dark tower Series, just didn't know which one.

"Tell students that in this unit, they are going to learn more about taking turns in music."

2nd grade teacher's edition book.

Got a cancellation after all, have you? Suppose the district learned their lesson!

Was Pittsburgh really scouting me? "What if they are?" he said. "It don't change what you gotta do, Chick."

Hee hee, I'd left my computer on this email notice while I went to do other things, turning off the screen, and when I came back to turn on the screen the first thing to come into focus was Einstein sticking out his tongue at me, and I giggled.

He is perpetually coming back--and perpetually leaving. Over and over again. Every time we breathe. Such is the rhythm of the Two Worlds

I know that's four, but I couldn't help myself. It was the end of the paragraph and two of those sentences could almost be one...
