What time, you ask? Well, the time when Amy is too sick to do anything useful but well enough to sit up at the computer for hours on end, and so she has decided to resurrect the illustrious Identify The Lyric Game!!!!!!!!!!!

You may remember this game-- it's the one where you're listening to your random electronic music playlist and put a lyric from each of the next twenty songs you hear, and then you have everyone guess the song. Well, because I love this game so much and to avoid doing it SO soon again, I've done 30 songs instead of 20.
And because you people all complain that I listen to weird music, I've added a ranking system so you know whether you should be sweating over a song that you OUGHT to know or if it's just way to obscure for you: 1-- everyone in the world knows this song, dangit, so think about it; 2-- I'm willing to bet that you know this song, but I suppose there's a chance you don't; 3-- this is a song I've heard on the radio on a somewhat regular basis, so it just depends what radio station you listen to-- if you, like me, listen to EVERY radio station (or Bob FM), you're good!; 4-- this song is fairly obscure but getable-- possibly an album track-- most likely the artist is pretty famous so if you're familiar with that artist you're good; 5-- this song is so totally obscure the only way you'll know it is if I gave it to you. Or you gave it to me. Or you just have the same bizarre musical tastes as me.

FURTHERMORE, so everyone has a chance to score big, I've developed the following scoring system:
2 pts for every song title you get right.
1 pt for every artist you get right.
1/2 pt for identifying the specific style, the decade, or more lyrics, indicating that you recognize the song (or are a good guesser) but just can't name it specificly.
You can get as many as 3 points per song. If you know the title I'll assume you know the style, so no half points for you if you already got 2! The highest possible score is 90. (I should point out that I can't even score a 90-- I did have to look at my media player on one song because I wasn't sure who sang it!)

For this scoring system to work correctly, DO NOT READ ANYONE ELSE'S ANSWERS BEFORE YOU GUESS! Click DIRECTLY on the "Add a Comment" link. DO NOT READ ANY OTHER COMMENTS UNTIL YOUR ANSWERS ARE POSTED. I'll tally up the points in a couple days.

So now, without further ado... THE LIST. (sorry for taking up your Friends' Page-- I know it's long but I won't cut it for fear of people seeing other people's answers accidentally).

1. “Electric word, life—it means forever and that’s a mighty long time” (that’s actually spoken rather than sung but I like it too much to use anything else) 2 I hope.
2.“Now that you’ve found another key, what are you going to play?” 4
3.
“I have my ship, and all her flags are a-flyin’. She is all that I have left, and music is her name.” 3
4. “If you wanna hang out, you’ve got to take a round…” 3
5. “It was written that I would love you from the moment I opened my eyes” 4
6. “Newspaper taxis appear on the shore, waiting to take you away” 2
7. “But you know, the darkest hour is always, always just before the dawn” 4
8. “The ocean is a desert with its life underground and a perfect disguise above” 2
9. “When evening falls so hard, I will comfort you” possibly 1. I’m willing to bet a 1. Maybe a 2 I suppose, but I’ll be very upset with you all if NOBODY gets this one.
10. “Through the years as the fire starts to mellow, burning lines in the book of our lives” 3
11. “All alone I have cried silent tears full of pride, in a world made of steel, made of stone” 3. Maybe 2.
12. “Whatever we deny or embrace, for worse or for better” 3, but maybe 2 because I heard it on a commercial recently.
13.“I’ll be just around the corner if you got a minute to spare. I’ll be waiting for you, if you ever want to be there” 3
14. “I’ve got no time for lovin’ ‘cause my time is all used up; I just sit around creatin’ all that groovy kind of love” 3, but tricky, because this is actually a cover. If you give me the name of the band that made it famous I’ll give you a full point, but if you can guess then the band that is singing THIS one I’ll give you TWO points. It’s fairly well known for a cover, I’d say a 4 maybe.
15. “Nothing you can make that can’t be made” okay that’s all I’m going to write for this one because it’s definitely a 1. At least it’d better be.
16. “It’s been a long time since the book of love; I can’t count the tears of a life with no love” 3, though this one’s also been in commercials. But I don’t think they ever use the lyrics in the commercials come to think of it.
17. “I was always reaching; you were just a girl I knew. I took for granted the friend I have in you” 3
18. “Most of the cats that you meet on the street speak of true love; most of the time they’re sitting and crying at home.” 3. Though Maggie if you don’t get this one I will hurt you. Or at least solidly accuse you of not trying.
19. “But when you stop and look around you, there is nothing that we need, in a world of persecution, that is burning in its greed” 4, though it WAS played on the radio an awful lot on a certain shift of Afternoon Archives, WIUP, from ‘97-’99 (I closed my show with this song all the time because we had a single of it at the station, and it was a good closing song for that matter).
20. “Midnight on the water—I saw the ocean’s daughter.” 3-4.
21. “Time every journey to bump into you accidentally” 4, though for once it’s not a classic rock band so you up-to-date music snobs might actually get it.
22. “Said, ‘It’s 3 AM, there’s too much noise, don’t you people ever want to go to bed?’” 2 I’d say.
23. “The government bugged the men’s room in the local disco lounge” 3
24. “Your love is like a tidal wave spinnin’ over my head”
25. “I have held the hand of the devil: it was warm in the night; I was cold as a stone” 2
26. “You’re asking me will my love grow?” so 1. I can’t even write anymore, it’d be too obvious.
27. “Doesn’t have a point of view, knows not where he’s going to” 2
28. “Here come Johnny, singing oldies, goldies, be bop-a-lua, baby, what I say” 3
29. “A thousand pictures can be drawn from one word; only who is the artist? We gotta agree. A thousand miles can mean so many ways, just to know who is driving what a help it would be.” 4, maybe 3. More 3 than the other song by this artist here.
30. “We’ll hold hands and then we’ll watch the sun rise from the bottom of the sea” 3

Let’s see: 2, 6, 15, 26, and 27 are all by the same band; 3 and 7 are by the same band, or, practically the same at any rate; 12 and 24 are by the same artist which is odd because those are the only two songs by that artist I HAVE on my computer; 19 and 29 are by the same artist; and 5 is by a former member of one of the bands listed here with multiple hits.

There’s quite a variety in this list—many different styles (though all “popular music”), and I think I managed to hit every decade from the ‘60s to the present (though my machine seemed to be on a bit of an ‘80s kick today), so there’s bound to be something here for everybody. And I didn’t even give you any true 5s this time! No obscure psychedelic randomness for you, too bad!  (Not to say that there aren’t any psychedelic numbers on this list, they’re just not OBSCURE ones).

And even if you just stumbled on this entry randomly and don't even know me, feel free to play too!

#8 is A horse with no name. I think the artist is America. I am totally clueless about the others. But I like the game.

21 points... I guess I'll assume you know the artist of 6 15 26 and 27. ;)

You rock for getting "Walk of Life," I didn't know if anyone would!

Yeah, since you said they were all the same artist, I figured I didn't need to write it every time. {g}

You rock for getting "Walk of Life," I didn't know if anyone would!

Well, my dad had that album when I was a kid.

I think I might do this game again myself, actually.

#18 Truckin' by Grateful Dead. I just bought a new dead shirt.

Happy now? haha jk. I don't know lyrics, come on Amy. You know better than anyone that I like to make up lyrics most of the time!

Well, look, you got yourself 3 more points just by focusing on one lyric! Let me see which others you should get if you think about them: 15, 22 maybe (I have memories of singing this song with you, but then again, maybe just the refrain), 26, and 27. You KNOW more of the songs than that, but those are the ones I think you can get from the lyrics if you concentrate.

#26 Something by the Beatles

Yay! That makes 15 points in all (counting your others)! See, I knew you could do it if I egged you on enough.
