Yesterday we went out for Maggie's college graduation. Because she had to be there early and the rest of the family wasn't ready yet, Jason and I ended up dropping Maggie off and trying to think of something to do for an hour. Luckily, we were hungry, so we got lunch at Subway, which seemed to be the only fast food place in the relative area of the UPJ campus. Then we went next door to a used video game store, which also had used DVDs, and I found a copy of "The Dark Crystal" for ten bucks and figured I'd have to get it since it's on my Amazon.com wishlist and also I'll be parting forever-- well, until I come to visit-- from the Mystic Under the G.R. Stairs in a week. And Jason found a copy of another WWII game --this one in the Pacific Theater-- and so he's been on that much of today. But still, which much coaxing, managed to mow the lawn, drag my bags of garden soil up to the Future Tomato Patch, and grill lunch, and without much coaxing go shooting at his grandma's. Um, I just want to point out the use of the apostrophe in that last sentence. That sentence could have some serious issues without that apostrophe. But anyhow, as I was saying... yesterday.

We drove back to campus and Zeke pulled up RIGHT behind us. We three were stuck in the "overflow" facilities since there weren't enough seats in the gymnasium where the graduation was. So in this one hall there were all these little auditorium-style classrooms with big screen TVs showing the ceremony, though there was also a TV in the lobby too. THERE we ran into my aunts and uncle. I ended up sitting with them in one of the classrooms, because Jason and Zeke were just going to hang out in the lobby so they could make loud comments without bothering anyone, and there really wasn't anywhere to SIT AND WATCH there. So I watched until just after all the communications majors got their diplomas-- the president dropped Maggie's-- and went back into the lobby with the boys. That was the benefit of sitting in the overflow area-- eventually everyone else started trickling out and goofing off (including the older refined people) into the lobby after their graduate went by, too. I took a picture of the boys standing on top of this rock that is supposed to have a statue on it but doesn't. But you know, I don't think I got an actual picture of Maggie all day?

Bethany graduated in Florida at the same time. They called J's cell phone afterwards which just so happened to be right when we were meeting up with Maggie and the parents afterward HERE. They're coming home on Wednesday and bringing a whole lot of stuff that we're supposed to go help unload on Wednesday. Or Jason is, anyway.

So anyway, the crowd of us-- our relatives and the Hankinsons as well as our family-- drove all the way back to Greensburg to my cousin Ronnie's Red Lobster. This is important, because it was Saturday and the place was packed and they don't take reservations, but because we were the general manager's relatives we got ALL sorts of special treatment. The food was really delicious too. We had crab rolls for an appetizer and I had a fish-in-a-bag for my meal. And we had graduation cake for dessert but it was just a Giant Eagle cake. We hung out there until like nine o'clock or so, so yes, we were having a good time.

So, y'all, pop on over to [livejournal.com profile] magnolia___'s and say congrats!
