Okay, now I'm going to get around to rambling about music. I just am TOTALLY MISSING the Les Miserables soundtrack out of nowhere just now. Actually I think I was thinking about this junk (LJ), and thinking about the Discworld community, and then was thinking about "Night Watch," and THEN was thinking about how that book reminded me of Les Miz, and THEN I suddenly remembered how I used to belt out "On My Own" because it was totally the story of my love life up until like the spring of '99-- what's really funny is I once saw the show WITH a guy that I totally had a complete Eponine/Marius relationship with, although come to think of it at that point in time we were ignoring each other, long story, and I totally wondered what he was thinking during that song although he probably wasn't thinking ANYTHING interesting, but I was really disappointed anyway because the Eponine in that production sucked which just ruined the whole mood of it ANYWAY.... Okay, I totally tangented. With a total lot of totallys. Anyway, it occurred to me that I have the entire show memorized from start to finish, so do I really NEED the soundtrack anyway, but then I guess I have every Beatles album memorized from start to finish too, so like that stops me.
Speaking of albums by my favorite bands, so like, I finally went through Marty's CDs last week... okay, if you don't know the story of why we have Marty's CDs, Marty is this friend of Jason's who was famous for having absolutely No Life. Last spring Marty decided that, since he had no life here, he might as well move to Romania to be with this girl he knew on the Internet, because he couldn't possibly have less of a Life in Romania and there at least he had this girl. Although shortly after he DID move to Romania, she realized he was in fact a loser and dumped him, but by that time he'd decided that he wanted to stay in Romania because it was a lot cheaper to have No Life in, and also supposedly Romanian girls are nicer than American ones. Or something. But anyway the point is, he left us ALL HIS STUFF. We can barely walk into the guest room for Marty's stuff. Jason has adopted Marty's Playstation with great glee, and Marty actually has told him that he can KEEP it.... So anyway, we've had three milk crates of CDs in the Book Room for months and I'd never gotten around to looking deeply into them-- all I really knew was that the Bloodhound Gang's Horray for Boobies was on the top, because Jason went around the house randomly exclaiming "Horray for Boobies!" on a regular basis after that. But anyway, Marty has a very interesting collection. 'Sgot a lot of techno crap and junk, but some other stuff too:
rockonliz might be glad to know that he has quite an extensive Sarah MacLaughlan collection. He's got a good bit of classical, which I was excited by, because the only classical stuff I actually own is an old Mozart tape and also this tape my old roommate Christine (who was a piano performance major) made of her playing, which is really good incidentally. I got it into my head that I'm going to try to get Jason into Bach. And I also rediscovered how awesome Beethoven's piano sonatas are. I'd forgotten their awesomeness. Then also I found a pile of nostalgic 90's CDs-- like Alanis Morrissette's Jagged Little Pill and Nirvana's Nevermind -- and I put a bunch of those tracks on my computer. And THEN I found Floyd's Animals, and I was like JACKPOT!!!!!! He also had Wish You Were Here, but of course I already have that one. But I was like, SO COOL, I totally wasn't planning on buying Animals,, at least not before Meddle or Piper at the Gates of Dawn and probably not even before Momentary Lapse of Reason which I was seriously considering at CD Warehouse... but I'll quite gladly swipe Marty's copy. Very really cool. "Wish you were here" just came on my computer. Anyway, so now I have that CD and it's cool, but I haven't listened to it since because mostly when I've had the time it's been night and I've been all alone and the last time I listened to it it struck me that "Sheep" is just a freakin' scary song, and then I tried to take a shower and kept being terrified that monsters were going to attack me and stuff, and then I was listening to "Run Like Hell" in the car the next morning and it occurred to me that THAT song was actually rather scary too, now that you mention it, but I guess I'm used to it, and besides it's like a sixth as long as "Sheep" so you get over it sooner, and then it occurred to me that just about every Floyd song is pretty scary, really, even "Bike" even with lyrics like "I know a mouse and he hasn't got a house I don't know why I call him Gerald," and I wondered how they ever became my second-favorite band in the first place. Anyway, the point is I haven't felt like listening to it at night since then, which is kind of a shame, because it was quite exciting.
In the last week have you...
1. Had sex: Yeah, in the past week, and tomorrow's Wednesday which would normally be a good thing but... okay, never mind.
2. Bought something: Of COURSE in the past week. Having to do all your own grocery shopping has that effect on you, anonymous college student who probably wrote this. Welcome to life. BUT, TOMORROW I am going to buy HOT PEPPERS at the grocery store so as to make more HOT SALSA with the last of my tomatoes!
3. Gotten sick: Something like that. See #1.
4. Sang: Constantly.
5. Been kissed: Yep yep yep!
7. Felt stupid: Look, my life is a whole series of feeling stupid.
8. Talked to an ex: No. In fact I don't think I've ever talked to an EX, considering I only have one and I don't think I've ever talked to him since. I talked to an ex-crush on Sunday though.
9. Missed someone: Yeah. Lots of people actually. What's sad is when ONE of the people I've missed is my husband. Tomorrow's wednesday!
10. Got drunk: No.
11. Gotten high: No. Unless you count my natural tendencies toward chemical imbalance.
12. Danced crazy: Yes-- that's part of the Wild Rumpus if you do "Where the Wild Things Are" for Storytime.
13. Gotten your hair cut: No, but I had a conversation about it on Sunday.
14. Watched cartoons: Think I watched Homestar last week.
15. Lied: I don't THINK so. I tend more easily toward half-truths.
Last person who....
1. Slept in your bed: Jason
2. Saw you cry: probably Jason
3. Made you cry: Myself, thinking about stupid stuff this morning.
4. Went to the movies with: Jason
5. You went to the mall with: Jason
6. Made you smile: Megan, with her "I LOVE EGGNOG" post.
7. You went to dinner with: I can't remember the last time I went out to dinner. Went out to lunch with Jason. I mean it's PROBABLY Jason, considering he's like the only person I ever see whom I don't work with, and I didn't go out to dinner with any of them.
8. You talked on the phone with: Heather C, who called up to Waterplay when I was there just to make sure I was there because I hadn't answered the walkie-talkie when she did radio check, but this was because I was talking to this very earnest but slowtalking granddad at the time and didn't even hear the radio check.
9. Said 'I love you' to you: Probably Jason
10. Broke your heart: Sto-Rox? Not a person. Emily Duncan, I guess.
11. Made you laugh: Whitney French. It was either the playing around with the walkie-talkies thing she does or her story about the cat named Puppy, I don't know....
12. Bought you something: Hmm. Joe Wos bought everyone on staff Krispy Kremes yesterday. Me personally... gee, probably Randy, who bought me a beany-baby rat at a yard sale for fifty cents several months ago.
13. Hugged you: Probably Jason.
14. Made you mad: I don't know. Probably some idiot parent at the museum.
Have You Ever...
1. Said "I Love You" and meant it: I always mean it. In fact I'm more likely to mean it and not say it. Except when talking to Jason, in which case it tends to be about every second thing that comes out of my mouth.
2. Got in a fight with your pet: Only if you count Jason.
3. Been to California: No, but the question makes me want to start singing something.
4. Been to Mexico: YEEESSS! Grand adventure that was.
5. Been to China: No, but it would certainly be interesting.
6. Been to Canada: Yes. Had a few adventures there too. It saddens me that you need passports to cross that border now, it really puts a damper on spontaneous road trips there.
7. Been to Europe: YES! Come to think of it, some adventures there, too.
8. Wished you were the opposite sex: No, really. I don't know why not, but it's like it's just never occurred to me to wish it.
9. Snuck out of your house: Not truly. I think I answered this once before by pointing out that I have had a tendency to wander off while avoiding people, but not intentionally SNEAKING per se.
10. Gave money to a homeless person: I think so, in Mexico.
