So yesterday I finished up on here and looked at the clock and said, "okay, I have about 15 minutes to eat a small lunch and fill out Wendy's recipe card" and then it suddenly occurred to me that I had NOT BOUGHT A GIFT FOR THE SHOWER which, I repeat, I was leaving for in 15 minutes! So I ran off to Target and like everything on the registry there was sold out except a set of cookie cooling racks, so I got those and threw in an extra baking sheet because I figure you can never have too many of those even though someone else had already bought some, and I bought a gift bag and just shoved it all together and drove off to meet my mom and sister, and then Maggie drove and I sat in the back and FINALLY filled out the recipe card, and we ended up getting there right on time and certainly before the fashionably-late ones anyway. So anyway, this was Wendy's bridal shower, friend of the family's whose sister, Melanie, got married a few weeks ago in this entry. I think the next backstory I'd better do is explain about these particular "relations" of ours. It would make anything interesting I have to say here make a whole lot more sense to the rest of you. Like that one of the highlights was that Jackie D was there, who is a very cool person and one of these particular Friends By Default that I get along with best. She is living in NYC right now but is possibly going to be moving to LONDON soon, which is also where Wendy and Wade are going on their honeymoon! AW I AM SO FREAKING JEALOUS!!!!!!!!!!! I could save up to go to England, or I could save up to have a kid, at which point going to England would become even LESS do-able, but is something I really want and time is even more of a factor in. Anyway, it was really hot out but generally a pretty good time.
Then we went back to... shall I call it the Matviyas'? And ANGIE came over! And we had a totally awesome Mexican Feast. We started with chips with watermelon salsa AND/OR guacamole, and I just kept staring at both of them unable to decide which was better, and Angie kept saying it was like pure happiness on a chip and just radiated out when you ate it. The Nwax VFD was having a carnival so we went down to check it out although it was incredibly not exciting, and then came back and played Apples and dominos, which Angie thoroughly wholluped everyone at. BOTH games, mind you. It was so late when we finished that I was too tired to drive Angie home so my mom did and I rode along and then I crashed in my old bed. It was very fun, and Angie is going to be here until the end of the month and we WILL be getting together again before she goes, maybe multiple times!
Anyway, that is what I did yesterday, I'll explain more later if I feel like it!
