'Kay, short one for tonight-- might write longer tomorrow morning while I wait for J to get here. (But yay, this year he has a laptop, and the hospital has complimentary wifi! You have to pay 5 dollars a day for TV though if you want that. Though, as my brother in law pointed out... um, you can watch TV shows online).

We have a quite healthy little girl! Much better at nursing than her brother, which also means she's not becoming Dangerously Jaundiced. But she is totally a WAILER. Or a squealer, I'm not sure.

Since ya'll have been following the naming saga, what finally made me go with Madeleine? Because she came on an already crowded birthday-- not only my sister Maggie, but J's Aunt Lynnie; AND the name Madeleine is derived from "Magdalene"-- Mag + Lynn? How weird is that? AND it was Eastern Orthodox Easter, so if you're going to pick an appropriate Easter name, why not name someone after the first witness to the Resurrection? Of course if you forgot it was Madeleine L'Engle that got the name onto the list to begin with, but it was those later reasons that pushed it ahead and out of the mire of "is it currently too popular"; Heck, her mom and dad were saddled with, respectively, the 2nd most popular girls name and 3rd most popular boys name of their generation, so what goes around comes around. ;) If there are too many Maddies in her class, we do think "Maddie Beth" is cute.

That is incredibly awesome!!! I am so happy for you. I love the name.

Congratulations! Your sister has a ton of pictures up on facebook, and Maddie is adorable! Looks like you, I think. :) Speaking of the popularity of the name, not even a month ago, another friend of mine, Amy, also had a daughter whom they named Madeleine.

Now, the question is, is she MadeLYNN or MadeLINE?

That is an interesting question to which I think the answer is "It depends how fast you say it." I swear I pronounce "Madeline" differently every time I say it when I read that picture book around. I'm pretty sure L'Engle went by -lynn so that's what I've been saying the most, but it could also almost be "Made-LEEN," too.

Someone once accused me of pronouncing my own last (maiden) name wrong, or at least differently from someone else in my family, and I swear I couldn't even hear the difference.

BTW, I'm so happy you had a girl!

Yay for laptops and wifi! We'll have to get ours back into working order...I never thought of that before. Nothing is worse than sitting in a hospital watching crappy tv and being bored because you can't go anywhere.

Yeah, did five days of that last time. Hopefully this time around it's the standard 2ish.

I'm sorting through clothes tonight! I'll have a HUGE batch of them ready for you whenever you're ready for visitors at your house. Please let me know, we're available this weekend (for a change!)

Congratulations! That is a very pretty name.

Congratulations, may she love books as much as you do.

Yay! Happy girl times! I love her name, it's so classical. I'm glad that everything went well. Can't wait to see pictures. Looks like the one posted isn't working right now.

I was already liking the name choice when I saw it on Facebook, but I like it even more with the reasoning behind it. Also, there may be a few Maddies her age, but it's likely they spell it Madeline, so she'll still be unique.

If she's Jason and Amy's kid, she'll be unique no matter what her name will be.

(Ignore my old LJ - I don't think I've updated it in 2 years!)

HI! So ... when you first commented on my blog I almost wrote a blog post creating a new club: "LIBRARIANS IN LABOR!"

But then I got distracted ... by being in labor. UGH with the 2 and a half weeks of contractions! But I admit I have been blog stalking you on and off for exactly those same reasons. And just to make things even even weirder, my 2 year old's middle name is Elizabeth! (:

ZOMG! And that just goes to show how crazy I am ... I forgot to say congratulations! YAY FOR BEAUTIFUL NEW BABIES!

Hah, that's okay, I think I assumed you said it anyway!

My middle name is Elizabeth too-- her older brother has her dad's middle name. There are a lot of people in my family with the middle name Elizabeth, all in honor of my grandmother, Betty, which wasn't even short for Elizabeth but was her whole name.

I will friend your LJ even though it is not being used, just in case you find the occasional friends-locked post interesting. Usually I just lock them if I am using full names, saying mean things about people (rarely, honest!), and, most commonly, posting lots of pictures of kids. But I've got some library stuff in there too.
