It's too hot to weed. I've got a pile of new library books this morning. But I figured I should take a moment to pop in here while I have it, before I get suckered into reading my new books.

One of the YA-lit blogs I stalk posted a link to THIS blog on the subject, particularly that this week is about the Greatest Book Ever. You know how cool it is to read all the comments, to see that the book that saved you from feeling All Alone in the Universe in fact made SO MANY OTHER COMPLETELY DIFFERENT STRANGERS feel the VERY SAME WAY. How can we ALL be like Meg when we're all so different from each other? THAT'S WHY IT'S SUCH A FRIGGIN' GREAT BOOK!

Um, I can't think of anything else. OH! Jason and I got out to the movies on Saturday and we saw Indy! I personally really enjoyed myself. I mean, the movie's not the greatest movie in the world or anything, but I enjoyed every moment of it and that's the important thing. Also, there were YOUNG INDIANA JONES CHRONICLES references in it! ROCK THE WORLD. Totally I wonder how many other people actually picked up on that, because apparently I was after all the only person in the world who watched that show. Actually, in afterthought, the movie was kind of similar to the Chronicles in tone, so it's possible the same people who didn't like this movie were the ones who didn't like the show either, and we all know they suck and have no taste.

Random survey:

How old was the last person you kissed?
going on 14 months

Has someone ever told you they want to spend the rest of their life with you?
Apparently, since I am married

Do you sleep with your closet doors open or closed?
Given the choice I would close them but... well, technically I DO have a choice, I'm just too lazy to move the pile of junk blocking my closet from closing.

Do you get along with girls?
It depends on the girls. Usually, the girlier the girl, the less I get along with them. Yet the girls I DO get along with I tend to get along with better than the average boy.

Do you take the shampoos and conditioner bottles from hotels?
Usually. Not that I go out of my way to. But most definitely if I've used them.

What did you do last night?
After I put sam to bed I came in here to pass time, and then I got REALLY distracted by the link I posted above, and didn't get to bed until somewhat late.

What's your plan for the day?
The main plan has been accomplished, which was go to the library, the grocery store, the gas station, and clean up the kitchen. Also I'd planned to weed but decided it was too hot. Now I plan to make something with canned salmon for dinner. Canned salmon is my new favorite thing. It's the only way to get wild Alaskan salmon dirt cheap!

Last song you heard?
Darn, I actually don't know the name of it (I haven't turned on any music since we got home from the store, isn't that pathetic-- so it was on the radio). It was popular a few years ago, some young-sounding girl singer with a cool fast piano part. I'm a sucker for piano, even if it involves mildly annoying young girl singers.

Is it okay for guys to wear pink?
Pink WHAT is the question.

When was the last time you wrote a letter to someone on paper?
Couple weeks ago when I sent my grandpap some of Sam's Official pictures.

Can you change the oil on a car?
If I tried.

Best thing to eat for breakfast?
I don't know about the very BEST thing. Maybe banana pancakes. But really good ones. It would definitely be some sort of freshly baked good (or pancakes or french toast, which count as baked goods because they involve flour), and it would help if this was an extended family brunch at my parents' house when we haven't seen each other in awhile, or something of that nature. Also fresh fruit as a side.

What is your usual bedtime?
10-10:30 ish.

When you were a kid, what did you dress up as for Halloween?
Many things for awhile, but as I got older I started defaulting to the Colonial Woman dress, though once I did the Colonial Man just to shake things up a bit. In first grade I REALLY REALLY wanted to be a sheet ghost. So I was. Second grade I was little bo peep and maggie was a sheep. I don't remember third grade. Fourth I was a cave...woman. Fifth I was a lion tamer and danny was a lion and maggie was a clown. I think after that was when I started defaulting to colonial woman. No, I was a gypsy one or two years in there.

Is Christmas stressful?
Yes, but in a good way. It's Eustress.

Favorite type of pie?
Jan's fruit pies. Apple I guess is my default, but especially if Jan makes it.

Do you cry and throw a fit until you get your own way?
No. I cry by default, but it never helps me get my own way, and I wouldn't want it to.

Have you ever cried while in the shower?
Where haven't I cried?

Do you wet the toothbrush before the toothpaste?
No. I think I did when I was younger though.

Did you get a full 8 hours of sleep last night?
No, I don't think so, but I think I got enough.

Could you live without a computer?
Not now that I've gotten used to it.

Do you care what other people think about you?
I care what SOME people think of me. I guess I mostly care that what people think of me is based on truth and not on misconceptions. If they don't like me for something that is TRUE, oh well, but if they don't like me because they think something about me that ISN'T true then I'm upset.

When was the last time you were told you were beautiful?
Probably this morning. Maybe even on the phone at lunch, but I don't think so.

Is your phone within a meter radius of you?
There is a phone about a meter off, yes.

Two close friends?
What about them? Actually after Jason I'm not sure who my closest friends are.

Look at your recent calls, who was your last call from?
Who calls my cell phone? Someone called here about an hour ago but no one was there when I picked up. Jason called at lunch.

What is bothering you right now?
The nagging feeling that I ought to have weeded today even though it was friggin' hot out.

Who was the last person to play with your hair?
I don't know. Sammy might have yanked it recently.

What does your last received text message say?
Think it was an ad from Verizon.

What is your favorite color?
Blue

Are you easily scared by horror/thriller films?
It depends on the subject matter. I'm easily GROSSED OUT by blood-and-guts-type horror. If it's more, like X-Files horror, I'm scared if it involves psychological stuff-- demon possession is way scarier than an outside monster hands down-- or children in peril. Children in peril has been particularly difficult for me to watch this past year for some reason!

Where are you right now?
da office room.

Are you listening to music right now?
No, as previously mentioned, how weird is that?

How's the weather today?
Hot and humid. And sunny.

What are you thinking about right now?
I've got that previously unnamed song in my head. My gum is starting to become noticable. I've got flashing images of the X-Files going on though no particular plot points. Bit about Madeleine L'Engle. That's all I can pinpoint right now.

While this could be any number of songs, the one I immediately thought of was Vanessa Carlton's "A Thousand Miles."

I guess my opinion on that is kind of similar to yours. It's basically, "Well, her voice is a bit annoying, and the lyrics so trite that you can probably see them in the dictionary under 'cliché,' but that piano part sure is catchy!"

but of COURSE everyone wants to be like me!

Oh, you mean THAT "Meg."

Well, you're still invited for the 28th. 4pm.

I didn't send you an invite because you said you'd not be able to come (and I was one short, thought you of all people would be the most cool about it!) but you are all definitely invited!

Okay, then we are definitely RSVPing! Anything we should bring?

Hmmm...probably too early for your world-famous garden-grown salsa...but if it ISN'T too early, that'd be perfect.

The current menu is:
Hot Dogs
Hamburgers
Baked Beans
Cole Slaw
Potato Salad
Fruit Salad

If there is a side dish you can come up with that would go with those things (or heck, even if it DOESN'T!) feel free, but don't feel obligated. We have about 60 people invited, so every dish helps! :)
