Dude, the most recent edition of Children's Writers and Illustrators Market they have in this library is the 2005 edition... and my memory was that this library has the most recent edition of that. Which means that it was 2005 when I used that here. Which means many years have gone by and I think I might have actually made TWO submissions in that time, and one was a magazine story and the other was to an agent I had met. So, yeah, I think this is telling me something about my lousy marketing efforts.

I don't know what's stopping me all those times. I mean, the bigger excuses are "Well, I have a new baby/I need to get ready for the baby and I'm too fat to sit in one place for long/I'm morning sick/I...don't even have a remotely good excuse before mid-2006," but the fact is in all this time since 2005 I have DONE a lot of Market Research. I have made lists of possible publishers and found similarly styled works and I have written queries and summaries and cover letters and so forth AND THEN IT STOPS. I never take that final step of FINALIZING a submission and SENDING IT IN. Oh wait, I think I also queried Emily to Farrar Strauss and Giroux once in the past three years. That's three submissions. Anyway, though, I somehow never manage to take that last step. I think I get hung up on making sure the submission is Letter-Perfect, I decide it Never Is Perfect, and I won't submit it because it's not perfect. This is Stupid.

Ah, well, anyway. And no, I can't log off here right now and Submit, because I'm at the library. I'm just saying.
