SHEEZ, that kid. He can sleep through the night just fine but during the day he HAS to wake up howling after EXACTLY THIRTY MINUTES of nap. I can seriously time it. Sometimes he finds his thumb again before building up to a serious howl, and then falls asleep again for an hour or even two, but most of the time he starts screaming too quickly and then is screaming so hard that he can't sleep again, although he obviously NEEDS to sleep again, and nothing I will do will help him because everything makes him scream LOUDER. I wish I knew what was so horrifying about waking up from a nap so I could make it go away.

Seriously, our kids are exactly the same. It's starting to get spooky. Most days I can pat Nora on the back (since she's tummy napping) and even if it takes five minutes, she will absolutely go back to sleep. Most days. Today was not one of those days.

Edward went through this. I took to sitting outside his room and rushing in to appease him at the slightest noise in order to kinda re-train him to nap. It worked pretty well and took less than a week. John is starting down this path as well. Wish he'd take his thumb instead of flinging his binky across the crib and out the slats...frustrating! :)

I have a book that addresses problems like that. I shall research the answer and let you know, and this woman is very anti-letting-the-kid-cry-it-out so it's not anything scary. :)
