Beautiful story. I'm conducting a choir for a Christmas musical evening at church next Sunday, and there's a young man singing with us who has some sort of developmental delay. He doesn't understand what songs we're singing, but he does his best to sing along. The choir master in me cringes when his voice ruins the perfect harmony I'm trying to achieve, but my heart is warmed by the way the whole choir welcomes him and accommodates him. Our musical offering may not end up the highest technical quality, but I think we will do a good job of bringing the spirit of Christmas with us.

I will have to look for The Soul Tells a Story. Feel free to continue quoting from it!

PS: I can't say that I actively miss your blogs from day to day--I can go for weeks without checking my own blog! But whenever I see that there's a new post from Amy's Library of Rock, it's always the first one I click on.

PPS: I'm sure you've already seen this, but in case you haven't:

I particularly loved this line: "It's a community space. It's a place of safety, a haven from the world. It's a place with librarians in it."
