Part of the book apathy could be that there just aren't that many great books that came out this year - or if there are, they ALL missed me. The best book I read this year was one published in 1980 that I somehow missed when I was a kid. Well, and all the Diana Wynne Jones books, but again, most of them were ALSO published long ago and I somehow skipped over them when I was a kid (NOT that I'm bitter or anything - but I DO wish blogging had been around then, so someone could have TOLD me what a DOPE I was for not reading her stuff; as it was, I was the only fantasy fan I knew so I had to figure all the good books out on my own, and for whatever reason, I never, ever read anything of hers until I was an adult, and that makes me sad for my poor little childhood self).

Ahem. Beating on things sounds like Very Good Therapy.
