Maddie has quickly-- and proudly-- discovered how to climb out of her crib. I have not, myself, taken her out of the crib since Wednesday morning. Now, Sam's got one of those doorknob child-safety hickies on his door so he can't leave his ROOM if he decides he's done with a nap, but Maddie had not, so Thursday afternoon while I was mopping the kitchen floor, I could hear him tooting like a train whistle (which is his way of saying "I am done in here now, come get me," apparently) at about 3:30, so I'm thinking, JUST let me finish mopping and then okay. But two minutes later I hear footsteps running down the stairs and they BOTH slide into the kitchen: "Whoa, Mommy, what are you DOING? Why are you MOPPING?" Because apparently Maddie decided to come to her brother's rescue, hurdling the crib, opening her own (un-child-proofed) door, and then opening his (not child-proofed from the OUTSIDE).

Anyway, now she DOES have a child-proofy-thingie on her door, although you have to make sure the door is also SHUT the whole way, with that door, too. And she originally decided, today, that she would nap in the toddler bed. But after a half hour I could hear her knocking on the door and jumping around, so checked in. She took one look at me and dropped right to the floor where she was, as if she had been sleeping there the whole time. And then was very upset when I made her nap again in the crib after all. Of course she can still get out. But the familiar environment apparently made her more inclined to TRY to sleep, because she's been out ever since.

Uh, "out" as in "sleeping." She's still IN her crib. For now.
