The Rapture Has Taken The Library Staff
Feb. 11th, 2011 10:47 amI am alone at the library. I have no idea where anyone is. Well, I ASSUME maybe they've all spontaneously gone over to the new building for something, because that's the only idea I have; but Jackie just called to call off because she has the flu, so maybe, in fact, EVERYONE but me has the flu, and that is why no one is here. We open in 15 minutes, so I'm guessing-- um, HOPING-- the people on front desk this morning are going to show up soon. Meanwhile I've been staring mournfully at the notes I've written about National Library Week that I wanted to ask everyone else about before I did anything further with them, and answering the phone hoping it's something important. So far it has been: someone signing up for my Read Across America family fun night (yay!), someone trying to sell me personalized giveaway junk for Summer Reading Club (I don't believe I'm in a position to buy that over the phone even if I WANTED to), someone at the borough office saying they had someone who claimed they had a tax-prep appointment here so why isn't the library open for them yet (that's because the tax-prep appointments are happening TOMORROW), and Jackie calling off. I was glad to hear from Jackie, because otherwise I've been feeling moderately Twilight-Zoneish.
