I'm passing time waiting to make sure Sammy is genuinely going to be okay for the night, because he was WIDE awake when I put him down, though he has yet to start crying or even wimpering. This is odd, considering he's been incredibly needy and cranky all day, no, weekend. Last I peeked in, which was just after the amount of time it takes to go to the bathroom and take a Motrin since the time I first left the room, he was waving both feet high in the air with the utter fascination and excitement that only a four-month-old can have with waving feet.

His other favorite physical game this weekend is lifting his head and shoulders up when he's on his back like he's trying to do a sit-up, but I know what he's REALLY trying to do is STAND up, because he's doing like he does when he pulls on our hands and we help him up-- like normal children get pulled to sitting. HE prefers to go right up to STANDING, if you help him that way. Kind of sad how determined he is, when even most grown people can't get up to standing directly from lying on their backs. And HE can barely sit supported yet, let alone get to sitting by himself. Most likely he'll eventually flop himself over longways doing this.

Yep, twenty minutes down and he started howling again. Rocked, soothed, nursed from the OTHER side-- this cheered him UP considerably but he still didn't want to sleep, and became quite mad when he realized I was going to leave him in his crib and stop playing with him AGAIN. But he eventually got his thumb in his mouth amidst his cries and now he really is asleep. Now I will go downstairs and finally get to spend time with my husband while he's home.
