The good news on the financial front-- well, actually it's very NEUTRAL news as you will see-- started when I checked my credit card statement online yesterday to see if this refund went through from half of one of Jason's Christmas presents (it was a couple related anime series I'd got through the Amazon.com "Marketplace," which were apparently bootlegs, most noticably because the second series was very BAD bootlegs and wouldn't play properly. After about three months of exchanging them and finding that the replacements all had the same problems, we just asked for a refund and sent them back!) When I checked it I noticed something I hadn't even realized I was being charged for-- apparently I had signed up for automatic renewals of my antivirus software when I first got this computer over 4 years ago, and since then I have changed email addresses AND had the computer completely break down and have all the programs replaced anyway (AND we now get antivirus software free from Comcast!), so I said Whoa wait a minute! and called to get this fixed-- and indeed, the account was under a junk email account that I'd COMPLETELY FORGOTTEN I had had way back when, so I had no other way of accessing it online-- AND so I got THAT refunded also. And so I check the credit card account and see that the charge for the printer cartridges we just bought has gone through, and as it turns out the two refunds add up to almost exactly one dollar more than the price of the ink cartridges! Which I guess IS good news rather than neutral. It's +1 dollar. And I know I'm not going to get accidentally charged for a program I'm not using again next year!
