Some People's Kids...
Feb. 5th, 2007 07:12 pmSo, driving to work and watching the car thermometer bounce between 1, 0, and -1 (that's before windchill), I decided people would have to be insane to take their children out in that weather to go to the museum. And I was right. Everyone who came to the Museum today was, um, maybe not insane, but definitely not quite There. It was a really bizarre crowd of people. Or maybe the cold just zapped their brains. ...and it wasn't just me, other staff thought the same thing, that people were really weird today. But anyhoo.
I started to clean out the baby's room this weekend, but got only as far as redistributing all the wedding gifts and other such rarely-used stuff that's been waiting for a dining room cabinet, putting a few things that MIGHT be used in the next few months in other random cupboards and putting all the rest in a pile of consolidated boxes to go to the inlaws for storage. Some of those boxes were things the inlaws had sent home with Jason to get out of their house in the first place, so that's sort of amusing. Anyway, I just need to sort and put away my sewing stuff, which is in a big pile on the floor; then Jason is going to finally finish putting his old bed together, then I'm going to move all the clothes I have so far gotten and also washed neatly into the dresser. Then this Wednesday the moms are taking us to the furniture outlet club to find a crib and changing table-- which they are making their official shower gifts.
We had our childbirth prep class on Saturday, and Jason ruled the day as Awesome Partner of the Class. The instructor kept singling him out and saying she should hire him out as a doula and stuff. He pretty well rocked. I picked a good person to father my children. We did talk to one other couple at lunch who are due the same weekend as us-- although there was this guy and his 5-year-old son at the lunch room who had even more in common with them: the boy and his younger sister had both been born that same weekend on other years-- I mean, April 8 and 9, and they were there because another sister had been born the day before, and her name was the same name the other couple from our class had picked for their baby! Anyway, we did exchange addresses with the other couple, but I don't know if we will get together again or what!
