Also, any ideas for a wedding gift to get for a middle-aged person you only sort of know (your parents' friend, actually your parents' friend's sister who is also your parents' friend but you know her brother better because his kids are sort of your age?) who is getting married for the second time and therefore does not need kitchen appliances and when you don't have the money to make a monetary gift that is of any reasonable amount? (That is a weird thing, because if you buy a twenty-dollar frying pan, it seems like a good gift, but if you just give twenty dollars, doesn't it seem like what your grandfather would put in your birthday card, rather than a wedding gift? I don't know, maybe I'm just thinking too hard).

So Jason and I were watching the Bill Nye thing about drugs (which I vaguely recall was mentioned in Nathan's journal a while ago) and discovered that Jason has an addictive personality and yet somehow has never had an addiction problem (for example, he smoked as a kid for a few years then up and decided to quit and just DID it)-- so then we decided maybe the fact that he's so darn stubborn cancels out the addictive tendencies, and then we started talking about terrorists, and then about feet and the fact that I have particularly nice looking feet probably to cancel out the fact that my feet are perfectly useless at doing the things they're actually supposed to do (ie, walk without falling over), and then I decided to marvel about how much intelligent discussion had been sparked by a television show, and how rarely that happens or happens in normal people's households at least, I mean it's the sort of thing that idealistic television types like Joan Ganz Cooney and Fred Rogers hope for, that people use television as a jumping-off point for intelligent discussion. And Bill Nye probably too. Anything for the greats.

My dad said that ALL THE FILES ON MY COMPUTER HAVE BEEN RESCUED!!!! But now I have to wait for them to rebuild my computer still before I SEE them again. I'm not sure what to do with myself before bed. I feel like I ought to write (serious writing, not letter writing... this is a sort of letter writing), but then I'm like, "No, I want to wait until I get the file back before changing stuff that might have already been changed in the original file that I'm waiting to get back!"

I spent today typing captions for my non-official wedding album, since I actually went and got the pictures I had on digital printed at Eckerd instead of waiting for my own printer, and so I actually finished putting pictures IN the album, and so I typed the captions, but of course since I still don't have a printer I can't actually PRINT them, so go figure. Anyway, they're TYPED. "Silent Night" just freakin came on Comcast Rhapsody, that thing is messed up man.

And we had grilled chicken marinated in lemon-basil sauce, with steak fries and green beans. And s'mores for dessert of course, because you can't waste good leftover grill heat. We have s'mores way more often than the average person. Yet they never get old. Go figure for something whose primary ingredient is gelatin-puffed sugar. Apparently "go figure" is another of those phrases I say way too often.

Okay, that flower does not look "complacent." It's way too excited for that. Too bad I don't feel like paying for one of these things, I'd make my own mood icons and they'd be COOOOOOOOL.
