So, it was a good wedding in all. The church was not air-conditioned, which was a definite bad thing, but that was only a problem for an hour. Jason discovered it was the same church the steeple of which he used to use as a paintball target when he lived across the street from it in college. He was far too proud of this fact. Fr. Mike said a blessing at the wedding-- I suppose Joey must be Catholic, the basic service was Methodist-- and it was neat to see and hear him again. The entire wedding party seemed constantly on the verge of bursting out laughing. Which they did a few times I think. When they arrived at the reception they each danced across the room as the deejay introduced them, they were all quite cool. At the reception Jason and I were seated with two of the McCauleys and their significant others, which was kind of boring, because they were mostly involved in all their own in-jokes. It struck me that of all the "kids" there I was closest to (not counting you, of course, Mag) and would most enjoy sitting with, they were Wendy and Melanie, who were of course otherwise occupied! The food was good. There were herbed potatoes and meatballs and stuffed chicken, and beans, and pasta, and I can't think what else at the moment. When the dancing started it got lots more fun. I discovered two things about myself and dancing: 1) I LOVE dancing, and can't stop myself from doing it if I can; and 2) I am a HORRIBLE dancer, because I keep spacing out and forgetting to actually MOVE the entire time. Don't ask how these two things can possibly go together in the same person, but they do.

And Melanie made a speech of thank you in which she mentioned the thrill of seeing everyone there, and I thought THAT IS SO TRUE. That was absolutely my biggest thought at my own wedding: it is SO AMAZING having EVERYONE I LOVE here in ONE PLACE. Think about it, the only other time that ever happens is your funeral, and you don't get to enjoy that one quite as much! That in itself absolutely made MY wedding day. I know just what she meant!

Now I can't wait until Molly's wedding. Wendy's wedding will be fun, too-- but it will mostly be exactly the same people, of course!
