There was a big mural in a McDonalds that I apparently somewhat regularly frequented in childhood (not that we went out for fast food all the time-- it just happened to be the local one or maybe the one halfway between our house and our cousins' where we'd always meet) that had both characters on it, though like you said I don't remember many commercials about them. I have a vague memory of Captain Crook now that you mention him too, but I don't think he was in that mural.
