The first few years we were in our house, we had pretty much annual water main breaks on our street, including one on Christmas Eve when we were hosting and another one that was so forceful, it pushed our driveway up and created a little waterfall. So yeah, it was a nuisance, but we were always grateful that it would be fixed in a few hours and it was never more serious than just an inconvenience.
