Last night at one point just as I was waking up, I dreamed I was listening to-- or reading, so hard to tell the difference in dreams-- a #WeNeedDiverseBooks speech emphasising your broader definition, the importance of unique voices. And I felt nice, I felt like the speaker was welcoming me to write because I HAVE a unique voice, even if my labels aren't all that unique.

Granted, the rest of my dreams involved massive blizzards and serial killers in high schools and a Milk War, which is much more disturbing than it sounds. But at one point there was a commercial for cookies involving a bunch of basketball players singing do-wop, so that was nice.

My dreams often remind me that I'm creative. I just have to remember to be creative while I'm AWAKE.
